About Michael

Hello and Welcome to my book notes blog. This blog is a gift from one book fanatic to another. If you’re looking for book notes, you’re in the right place. Within the pages of this blog are notes from all the books I have read and I find interesting enough and or valuable enough to share their notes with you.

Who is behind Book Notes by Michael?

My name is Michael Mwoyondewenyu and I love reading. I haven’t always been crazy about books though. In fact, I’m one of those people who hated books. Ok, hate is a pretty strong word, I just really disliked them.

I discovered my passion for books sometime in October 2018 while in school when my afternoon lecture got canceled. I didn’t have anything else to do other than watch a movie as I usually did under such circumstances.

However, I decided to do something I never really did much of at the time that I now wish I had done more often, I decided to try something new, something different. I had a novel and a few other lame options to choose from so the choice was pretty simple, I read a novel. Probably the only interesting book that I had at the time was George Orwell’s Animal Farm. To my surprise, I actually liked the book and it left me wanting more. After reading my second and third books, there was no turning back, I was hooked. Long story short, I’m still searching for something that can quench my thirst for books.

In just under 2 years I have read over 45 books covering different topics from motivational, to inspirational,  to business and investing and a lot more others. I still like novels too, although I don’t read novels as much as I used to.

Although they’re not that many, reading these books has changed who I am and the way I see the world, for the better. The journey is still ongoing, but it has been an incredible one so far. The one thing I love the most about reading is the educational transformation I go through every time I read a book. Every time I finish reading a book I feel a hundred times smarter and I know it’s not just a feeling. It’s no wonder reading has somehow found its way to the top of my hobbies list since.

Why I Started Book Notes by Michael

For as long as I can remember I have always hated note-taking. I think of all the times I found myself in trouble with my teachers after they caught me not taking down notes in class and I ask myself, what changed? What made me want to write all these notes all of a sudden?

The simple answer to that question is value. Being young and naive, I could say I didn’t really see the value of education at the time. Sometimes I even wondered why I was in school in the first place.

Add that to the slow, boring, and repetitive exercise of note-taking (sometimes I made mini textbooks, copying nearly every word from the textbook). This didn’t help me much in trying to figure out the importance of note-taking.

The missing link was that I didn’t see the value on offer at the time. When you find something immensely valuable you don’t need pushing to write it down. It’s simply the logical thing to do because you know you’re going to need it for later.

When you’re a guy and a girl you like gives you her phone number you don’t try to memorize it, you write it down. In fact, you don’t only write it down, you save it. You might even try calling it right away just to be sure you got the number right. You do it because you can’t stand to think of what would happen if you lost it.

When I started reading books I knew I never wanted to lose my new-found education. I found so much value it was a no brainer I was going to need the information for later. I had found something worth putting down somewhere, so I did.

After writing down notes for nearly 2 years now, and few notebooks later, I’m running out of notebooks. And just at the right time, I bumped into a website that publishes book notes. It was then that I had an Aha moment and decided to do the same, I decided to share my book notes with the world. So I did.

I realized that there’s someone out there who, unlike me, doesn’t have the time to take down notes after going through a great book but who needs the notes on another day. And then there’s also someone who wants to read but he/she leads a busy lifestyle that doesn’t allow them enough time to read a whole book. So, like I said earlier, consider this blog a gift from one book fanatic to another.

What’s The Deal?

Being a reader means I understand the things that other readers like yourself go through. One of the most unfortunate and frustrating things I’ve come across reading is how you don’t always remember what you read from a book you read months ago no matter how interesting you found the book to be. You might have a general idea about what the book was about or you might even remember a few good lines but you know you’ve forgotten a lot of valuable material over time. This can be a really sucky experience.

But even if you have the memory of a genius, you can’t always remember everything you’ve read; and even when the need arises, you don’t necessarily have to read the whole book either.

That’s what notes are for. It’s also why this blog is here. I enjoy writing notes from my favorite reads and I will publish them on this site every time. You can always count on me to provide you with that.

If you ever need a hand with anything regarding this site or if you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the comment section below and I’ll be happy to help you out.

All the best,

Michael

The Greatest Salesman In The World - Og Mandino

Brief Personal Take When I first got this book I was looking for a book that would teach me to sell, but it taught me more than just that. The advice in this book is applicable in daily life or when you’re working to achieve something. It’s written in the form of a story featuring a young man who wants to earn to be a salesman in an ancient city. He learns the hard way, on the job, how the world can be unforgiving when working on your dream. Finally, he learns from his mistakes to become a better salesman. It’s fun to read, and if you’re

Unfuck Yourself - Gary John Bishop

Brief Personal Take Reading this one started out a little slow for me but it became pretty interesting as I went on reading starting right around the “You got this” chapter going forward. I bumped on this book  while looking for a book on business, but its title just caught my eye. Because it’s only a hundred pages long, I ended up reading it instead, and I’m glad I did.  It’s a motivational book which from the words of the author “is a conversational slap from the universe to wake you up to your true potential...” Its topics are geared to change the way you view life from inside out. The biggest lesson I took here is that you’re never going to

The Book Of Mistakes - Skip Prichard

Brief Personal Take I love it when an author finds a way to deliver his message to a reader through a story. That’s what Skip Prichard did with this book . He does a great job of telling the perfect story to get his message across. Message received Skip. The message is simple; in order to lead a happier, more fulfilling life, there are 9 mistakes that you ought to avoid and practicing the opposite of those mistakes is the secret  to
